Migrant beekeepers have been traveling through China for thousands of years. They always place their beehives exactly where the plants bloom that produce particularly tasty or medicinally effective honey. The majority of Chinese migrant beekeepers are in Yunnan, in the mountainous southwest of China. The air, water and soil here are much cleaner than in the rest of the vast empire. Honey from Yunnan has always been considered the best in China.
