Season 2 | Episode 26: NEW YEAR’S DAY

Pipì, Pupù & Rosemary

Animation/Nature, Italy 2007

Pipì, Pupù and Rosmary prepare to celebrate New Year’s Eve and, after having found a pretty plain from which you can see the stars, they start to prepare the food and lay the table. They have just begun eating when a pelican joins them and they invite him to their table. This is music to the large bird’s ears and faster than they can say ‘hot lentil soup’ it has scoffed all the remaining lentils from the pan. Also invited to the party is the Narrator, who asks our friends whether they intend to have fireworks and they explain that this year, having no fire to work, they have decided to only do the sound effects: Rosmary will do the whistles, Pipì the explosion and Pupù the Catherine wheel. Since they don’t have a clock our three friends, accompanied by the pelican and some singing toads, stretch out underneath the tree in which resides a cuckoo who, at midnight, comes out of its nest and sounds twelve ‘cuckoos’, just as if it were a cuckoo wall clock. That’s when the festivities can start as Pipì, Pupù and Rosmary’s ‘sound’ their fireworks, raise a toast with the Pelican, the singing toads and the Narrator, all the birds of the forest create splendid visual effects in the midnight sky.
